PTA Christmas fair games

It’s always a good idea to have some games going on at your fair. Most of these are quick fundraising wins but some are also useful for other reasons. The 12 Elves of Christmas, for instance, is a fun game designed to get people visiting all areas of the fair and therefore maximising spend opportunities. We have deliberately chosen games that are low effort on the day. Here are a few of our favourites.

The 12 Elves of Christmas!

The Twelve Elves of Christmas

Entice parents and children alike to visit all areas of the PTA Christmas Fair by introducing a hunt the Elf game - “The Twelve Elves of Christmas”. One PTA volunteer should be able to manage this game.
1) Stick 12 pictures of named Elves around the fair at different stalls.
2) Hand out photocopied sheets with clear instructions on the front. The sheet must have 12 numbered spaces to write the Elves names.
3) The child must put name and class on the back.
4) Either pick one single winner at end of fair for a decent prize or every child who enters correctly, chooses a sweet treat from the prize stall. This stall could also have a donation bucket available and be on the way out.

Wine not wine game

The PTA ‘Wine not wine’ game for over 18s

1) Have about 20 wine bottles, either full of water or empty as you wish. Arrange the bottles randomly in numbered positions. 5 of the bottles should have a gold star sticker on the base. [ note the positions are numbered not the bottles ]
2) The over 18 adult pays £1 and draws a number between 1 and 20 from a box and hands it to the PTA volunteer.
3) The bottle in that position is checked at the base. If it has a sticker, hand over a full bottle of wine from your PTA wine stash behind the stall.
4) Randomise the bottles to different positions from time to time so there is no cheating.

Guess my name!

Guess the name of the Elf

Or it could be a Bear, Penguin etc. This is a very popular PTA game and requires very little volunteer time on the day.
1) Have your prize Elf soft toy or similar on show. The name of the Elf has already been decided and hidden in a closed envelope.
2) Have a large name sheet with, for example, 100 possible names for the Elf, and a separate check sheet with the same names listed.
3) Child picks a name from the name sheet and pays 50p/£1 and that name is struck through on the name sheet.
4) Write the child’s name/parent’s number against that name on the check sheet.
5) Before the end of the fair, reveal the name of the Toy and contact the winner.

This is a fun game and makes a nice news item for the post PTA fair newsletter.
