PTA Together Again Future Event

Given the current global situation, we thought it might be nice to focus on happier times ahead. Sometime in the future when we are back at school and being thankful that we survived a very surreal episode in our lives.

What better way of raising the spirits of your school community than planning a big celebratory event. Okay, so we may not know the exact date , even month yet but let’s plan for September 2020. It can be whatever event you think would suit your particular school but in this blog I’m concentrating on a big family/community event which will benefit both families and the local business community. We have all being affected by the coronavirus pandemic after all.

I mentioned in an earlier blog, that many PTA events were affected by the lockdown. In fact, both PTAs and businesses lost out. The PTA lost on on fundraising income from the events, lost deposits already given to suppliers. Many local suppliers lost the opportunity of supplying their goods and services at school events.

However, it may be possible to regain a bit of this lost revenue as well as potentially giving local businesses the chance to earn some much needed income. Here is the thought process:

1) Plan a big community event for later in the year, something like a Summer fair.
2) Make a list of local businesses that might benefit from renewed brand awareness and potential sales. Contact them to see if they want to be part of this PTA community initiative.
3) Create an event on Ticket Tailor with two types of ticket.

  • A FREE of charge general admission ticket

  • A paid ‘Support our school community’ ticket e.g: £5

  • Enable donations for adhoc donations

4) Start promoting the event. Give people something to look forward to. You can contact them with the Broadcast feature nearer the time.
5) As people start to sign up, you can ask them if they’d like to be informed of any virtual events you may be running. This gives you the permission you need to contact them as and when you run virtual PTA events during lockdown.
6) You may even be able to get a headline sponsor to help cover the cost of the event. See this previous blog for tips.

Check out our demo event by clicking on the image below, it took less than 15 minutes to set it up on the Ticket Tailor platform. You can create your own account for free, it’s really intuitive. Book a call if you have any further questions.
