It’s back to school and everyone is finding their feet again after the long period of home-schooling followed by the school summer holidays. PTAs start to focus on fundraising again albeit sensitively, knowing that many jobs have been lost and times are tight. To some PTAs, it may be more important to connect and engage with pupils and their families rather than fundraise. No matter what the pandemic may bring in the coming months, one thing is for sure - Christmas won’t be cancelled!
At Ticket Tailor’s PTA hub, we thought it might be useful to scope out a Virtual Christmas Fair. The likelihood of the traditional fair held at the school is slim so preparing early for a virtual fair makes good sense. We hope you find this resource useful whether you decide to charge for all the events, some of the events or rely solely on donations for fundraising making it more about Christmas community cheer.
Here are some ideas. You can decide how best to communicate with parents but rest assured that all these events can be easily set up on Ticket Tailor’s online ticketing platform. You may want to set up a Whatsapp Broadcast group or a Whatsapp group with admin only posting enabled.

Virtual Balloon Race with festive balloons. StayConnected.events sets up your ticketing as well as organises a personalised festive balloon race for your school community.
Christmas Trees/Decoration packs. Collaborate with a local Christmas tree supplier and negotiate an affiliate fee/cash reward for trees ordered through the PTA. Create your own Christmas Decoration packs to sell aswell. Source baubles etc from Ebay, AliBaba, Home Bargains or B&M stores for the cheapest deals.
Virtual Magic Show organised by Stay Connected Events.
Jolly Jars - Decorate and fill these Christmas jars with candy. Do these in time that they can be quarantined for 48 hours in the school if possible. Use Ticket Tailor to take online payments in advance.
Festive Pet Show - Dress your pet or decorate their living area in a festive theme. £3 to enter their photo to be in with a chanc to win a prize.
Guess the Name game - Aldi/Lidl/Asda often sell affordable huge elves/soft toys in the run up to Christmas but get in quick. 50p/£1 to enter
Guess the number of sweets/marbles or weight of a huge candy jar visible at the school.
Virtual Grotto - send pictures of your bedroom/porch etc decorated as a Christmas grotto. £1 to enter and a prize for the winner
Virtual Scavenger hunt. Take a festive twist on a Virtual Scavenger hunt.
And finally:
Don’t forget that Christmas time means lots of gift shopping. Now, more than ever, people will be shopping online. Make sure you register for Amazon Smile. You will get a percentage of every qualifying transaction but you most inform your school community to nominate you when shopping. It’s very easy to do and money for nothing.
